UW, Ridley's join Wyo Hunger Initiative for 'Tackle Hunger' drive

Aug 29, 2023

CASPER, Wyo. — The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming, Wyoming Hunger Initiative, Ridley’s Family Markets and University of Wyoming are teaming up for a drive to tackle hunger.

According to a release, the initiative asks football fans to stop by the Ridley’s Family Markets booth located in the UW Indoor Practice Facility on Sept. 2 in Laramie and purchase a food bag from Ridley’s Family Markets.

According to the release, more than 20,000 pounds of food was donated to area anti-hunger organizations in Wyoming after last year’s drive.

Nonperishable food donations are also being accepted at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming Member Centers and at Ridley’s Family Markets across the state from now until Sept. 1.

In addition, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming will donate $1 for every pound of food donated at the game and at BCBSWY Member Centers.

“This partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming showcases the commitment this state has to alleviating hunger in Wyoming,” said First Lady Jennie Gordon in the release. “Hunger heroes come in all forms and together, we can make a difference.”
